Suites
The Suites panel manages reusable material selections for multi-material sets. A Suite picks one material option per set; a Layer binds a Suite to apply that selection across the scene.
Open from View ▸ Suites.
After unlocking the advanced UI, View ▸ New Panel ▸ Suites opens another Suites panel. Both panels edit the same document and stay synchronized.
What a Suite is
A multi-material set is a group of interchangeable materials used on one or more parts — for example, three colour options for a body panel. A Suite stores which option to use for each set. Multiple Layers can bind the same Suite, so editing a Suite's selection updates every Layer that references it at once.
When the document has no multi-material sets, the panel shows: No multi-material sets in this document. A Suite chooses a member per set, so there is nothing to choose yet.
The panel is available whenever a document is open.
The Suites list
All suites appear in a list. The Bound by N layers chip shows how many layers currently bind the selected Suite.
Toolbar buttons:
| Button | Action |
|---|---|
| New | Creates a new empty Suite |
| Duplicate | Creates a copy of the selected Suite |
| Delete | Removes the selected Suite |
Bindings
The optional Bindings section records explicit links that this Suite applies when a Layer activates it:
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Camera | Camera to activate |
| Environment | Environment preset to activate |
| Lights | Light set to activate |
Note: A Layer overrides any of these.
Multi-material sets
Below the list, the Multi-material sets section shows each set in the document with:
- A colour swatch for the currently selected member.
- The set name.
- Columns: Set / Member / Parts.
- A member picker to choose which material variant this Suite uses for that set.
Note: Material fade rows display a heavy! badge (This fade re-renders every frame of the span twice.) when a Material fade transition is in effect. When a Suite fade spans many frames this can significantly increase render time.
Scope and sync
The Scope & sync controls apply to the selected set, not to the Suite as a whole.
| Control | Effect |
|---|---|
| Linked scope | When on, the set propagates its selection by member position across linked sets in the same sync group |
| Sync group | The name of the synchronisation group; sets with the same group name propagate together |
Animating a Suite selection
Each set row has a key diamond button: Hollow when no Layer key sits at the playhead, Filled when one does. Its tooltip reads Key this Suite's Layer at frame N. It is greyed, with the reason, when no Layer binds this Suite. Clicking it places a held-step key that records which layer is active at the playhead, driving material switching over time.
If more than one Layer binds the Suite, the key diamond opens a picker so you can choose which Layer's timeline to key.
Per-part overrides
The Per-part overrides section shows individual part exceptions to the Suite's general selection. Empty state: No per-part overrides on this Suite. Each override row has Reset to the set's member to remove the override. You can inspect and reset existing overrides; creating one through the panels is not currently available.
