Licensing and the free trial

The trial

An eligible machine can start a free 30-day trial. Choose Start my free 30-day trial on the Licence & Trial screen on first run, or later from Help ▸ Licence & Trial…. In the last week the app reminds you once a day; after day 30 it asks for a licence code before opening a workspace. Existing documents remain on your computer.

How a licence works

A licence is a code made for one machine. The app shows that machine's Request Key (VZRK-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX) in Help ▸ Licence & Trial… with a copy button beside it. Send the key to support@vizid.app. The Licence & Trial screen's footer also has a Contact support email link. If the trial has ended or could not be verified, its Contact support… button prepares a message containing the Request Key. Paste your code into Licence code and press Activate. Activation works offline.

Use the code issued for this machine. Contact support for questions about the products and seats covered by your licence.

Moving to another computer

On the old machine: Help ▸ Licence & Trial… ▸ Deactivate this machine, then Click again to confirm. On the new machine send its Request Key for a new code. Reactivating the old machine later takes one click; the app keeps the code.

"We couldn't verify this trial"

This screen means the trial record on the machine no longer matches what the app last saw — after restoring a backup, moving the system clock back, or if the program files changed. Nothing is wrong with your documents. Press Contact support… on that screen to prepare a message with your Request Key, or email the key to support for help.

What the app sends

The app attempts a small licence report when a trial starts or a licence is activated or deactivated. At launch it can also report an expired trial or an integrity signal concerning its records, the system clock or its executable. Expiry reports are limited to once per day; integrity reports are limited to once per day for each signal set, including on activated machines. Reports include a hashed machine identifier, product and build information, operating system and the licence event. Trial-start and integrity reports also carry the corresponding trial identifier or signal codes; a country code is derived at the network edge. Activation and the trial work offline. Reports are best-effort, with a short timeout, and their replies do not unlock the app. To disable these reports, set VIZID_NO_TELEMETRY=1. See the privacy notice for details.

Messages you choose to submit through Contact Support are separate from licence reports.

Questions

  • Which licence should I buy? Contact support for the current licence and seat options.
  • I reinstalled Windows and my code stopped working. Send support the current Request Key and the message shown in Licence & Trial so they can check it.
  • Can I use it on a laptop and a desktop? Each machine needs its own code; ask support about a second seat.
  • Where is the licence stored? %LOCALAPPDATA%\VIZid\license.json. You never need to edit it.
