Rigs panel

The Rigs panel manages lighting rigs: named structural armatures (stands, trusses, booms) to which lights are mounted. A rig keeps its lights in fixed spatial relationships and scales together with them.

Open: always accessible from the panel tabs or View ▸ Rigs.

Rig list

The top part of the panel is a list of rigs in the document. Each row shows the rig name followed by its type in parentheses. An amber * marker after the name indicates the rig has unsaved changes.

Click a row to select that rig and reveal its Scale and Mounts settings below. Clicking a rig in the Outliner also selects it here.

Adding a rig

Click Add to open the Add menu. Choose one of the seven rig types or one of the built-in presets.

Rig types

Type
C-Stand
Tripod
Boom
Truss
Goalpost
Box-Truss
Pipe-Grid

Built-in presets (rig + light assignments)

  • 3-Point Interview
  • Product Booth Wash
  • Runway Truss
  • C-Stand + Octabox

Presets instantiate a rig with lights already assigned to mount points, ready to adjust.

Scale section

Rig scale — a multiplier applied uniformly to the whole rig: its structural size, the physical size of every mounted light, and each light's power. This keeps the lighting ratio the same at any product size.

  • Default: 1.0 (as authored — 1 = real-world scale of the rig asset)
  • Range: 0.01 × to 100 ×

The reset button (Reset to 1) returns the scale to 1.

Mounts section

The Mounts table shows the mount points defined on the selected rig. Each row is one mount point. A hint reads "Select a rig to assign lights to its mount points." when nothing is selected.

ColumnDescription
MountMount point identifier as defined in the rig asset
MemberA number identifying the structural member the mount is attached to
OffsetThe mount's positional offset from the member (three decimal places)
LightThe light assigned to this mount point. Choose from a dropdown of the document's lights. The first entry — none — clears the assignment. A light that has been deleted shows as "name (unavailable)".

Add a new mount point with Add a mount point, remove the selected mount with Remove the selected mount point.
