Object panel
The Object panel shows properties of the currently selected object. Its contents depend on the selection kind.
Open: always open. If not showing, it may be tabbed behind another panel in its dock slot. In the minimal-chrome layout, use View ▸ Unlock Advanced UI to enable panel toggles.
Prerequisites
Select an object in the viewport or the Outliner. The panel reads "Select an object in the viewport or the outliner." until a selection is made.
With multiple objects selected, the panel shows:
N objects selected — select one to edit its settings (multi-object transforms live on the viewport gizmo).
Identity header
At the top, outside the scroll area, the panel shows:
- A type icon for the selected object (part, group, camera, light, and so on)
- The object's name in bold
- A subtitle showing the object kind or prim path
When an object is locked, the subtitle appends "— locked" and the editable sections below are greyed out.
Transform section (parts and groups only)
Shown only when a part or group is selected. Shows position, rotation and scale.
Each axis field is a slider-field: drag to change continuously, or click to type an exact value.
Axis dropdown — switches the reference frame for the values below:
| Option | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Local (parent space) | Values relative to the object's parent — the default |
| Global (world) | Values in the scene's world frame |
Switching converts the displayed numbers; the object never moves.
Groups: all three scale fields are linked — editing one axis applies to all three (a per-axis group scale would shear its children).
Keyframing: the position, rotation and scale rows do not have wired key or reset slots in the current build. Use Outliner ▸ right-click ▸ Keyframe ▸, or S in the Animation panel, or enable Record (auto-key) to key transform values.
Immovable — Freeze this object's position. Dragging, the gizmo and the Align actions leave it alone. The object stays selectable and its material can be edited. Tooltip: "Freeze this object's position. Dragging, the gizmo and the align actions will leave it alone…"
Object section (lights and cameras only)
Shown only when a light or camera is selected. Displays type-specific properties.
Light controls
| Row | Description |
|---|---|
| Colour | Swatch or Kelvin temperature value |
| Power | Light output in watts (other units in the Lighting panel) |
| Cone angle / Spread / Angular size | Shown by light type |
| Falloff | Edge softness: 0 = hard-edged pool of light, 1 = fully feathered from the centre |
| Source radius | Physical size of the emitting surface |
| Position X / Y / Z | Position |
| Aim X / Y / Z | Aim direction (aimable lights only) |
Camera controls
| Row | Description |
|---|---|
| Focal length | Lens focal length in mm |
| F-stop | Aperture; shows "off (pinhole)" when depth of field is disabled |
For the full camera parameter set, see the Camera panel.
After Effects Comp section
Appears when an After Effects comp bar is selected in the Animation panel. It is additional to (not a replacement for) the sections above.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Comp (read-only) | The AE composition name as it exists in After Effects |
| Role | Overlay — the comp sits on top of the rendered image. Underlay — the comp is the backplate, drawn behind the product's alpha cut-out. Screen texture is shown for an existing screen-texture link created from After Effects and is preserved by other edits. Unknown roles are shown read-only. |
| Enabled | Mute this comp without unlinking it. The bar stays on the timeline, hatched. |
| Opacity | How strongly the comp composites. Range 0–100 %. Keyable. |
| In / Out | The first and last VIZid frame this comp occupies (integer frames). |
| AE offset | Which AE comp frame aligns with the In frame. Moving the bar's left edge on the timeline updates this value. |
| Source | Read-only — the AE comp's pixel size and frame rate. |
| Reveal in After Effects | Asks the connected plug-in to show this composition. VIZid waits for confirmation before reporting success and explains failures or unsupported requests. Same as double-clicking its bar on the timeline; see After Effects. |
