Sequences & transitions

Edit a complete product film inside one document: cut between cameras, change lighting and swap looks on their own tracks, and blend them with real render-based transitions.

An edit built from the scene itself

Transitions blend fully rendered cameras and environments, including their lighting, rather than flat video frames.

Comps for each deliverable

Each comp has its own frame range, frame rate, image format, starting camera, environment and look, so a teaser and a full-length film can share one scene.

Camera, environment and look tracks

Cut cameras, lighting setups and material layers independently on the Sequence band. Camera cuts can hold, move the camera, dissolve or dip to colour.

Image transitions

Choose Dissolve, Additive Dissolve, Dip to Colour, Linear Wipe, Clock Wipe, Iris, Push, Slide or Split. Iris shapes include round, box, diamond, cross and star.

Preview before you commit

Three sample images show the current transition at 25, 50 and 75 percent, with direction, centre and feather controls where they apply.

Overlapping blends and easing

Dissolves can overlap across several cuts without a fixed limit. Each uses an easing preset, or you can key its progress curve by hand.

Cached playback

Build the sequence once and replay it smoothly from memory or a disk cache, with preview resolution and samples set separately from final output.

Design example: an espresso machine showcase

A product team presents a new espresso machine to retail buyers. The film opens on a wide studio camera, dissolves to a close-up of the group head, then uses an iris transition to reveal the machine in a warm kitchen environment. On the look track the body changes from matte black to brushed steel with a material dissolve. A duplicated comp with a shorter range becomes the social-media cut.

How it works

  1. Create a comp and set its range, frame rate and starting camera.
  2. Add cuts on the camera, environment and look tracks.
  3. Double-click a transition to pick its effect, easing and duration.
  4. Play from the cache to review, then queue a render of the comp’s range.
