Plan your setup

Match VIZid Next to the way your studio already works. Start by importing STEP files directly, then add a CAD connector, After Effects or AI tools only where they earn their place.

What each route needs

The core application covers import, materials, lighting, rendering and output. The other routes need software, hardware or accounts of your own, listed here so you can plan before you start.

Your workstation

Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) with an NVIDIA GPU and a current driver. The first render after installing, or after a driver update, takes a few minutes while the renderer prepares itself for your GPU.

Direct import

Import STEP and OBJ files from the File menu or by dragging them in; STEP colours come in automatically. The asset library also accepts STL, PLY and USD, and scenes can be opened and saved as USD.

CAD Bridge connector

For repeated updates straight from CAD, build a connector with the CAD Bridge API. You need your own CAD seat with SDK access, and a developer or an AI coding assistant.

After Effects

The VIZid After Effects plug-in needs a compatible Windows version of Adobe After Effects, licensed separately.

AI tools

AI backdrops and the neural enhance engine run on your own computer. The AI engine and models are downloaded separately, larger models need more graphics memory, and each model comes with its own licence terms.

Video files

Animation always renders to an image sequence. To also get MP4 or GIF output, install FFmpeg separately.

Example: a small consumer electronics studio

A three-person team starts its evaluation by importing STEP exports of a wireless charger. It uses the 30-day trial, which includes every feature, to build colourways and a render queue for a client review. Once the look is agreed, the motion designer adds the After Effects plug-in for the launch film. The team's engineer then plans a CAD Bridge connector so that later revisions can be sent straight from CAD instead of re-exported.

A practical workflow

  1. Confirm that your workstation meets the requirements above, and ask us about the current release.
  2. Start the free trial and bring in a real project as STEP or OBJ.
  3. Decide which extra routes the project needs: CAD Bridge, After Effects, AI tools or video files.
  4. Arrange the software, seats and model downloads for those routes before production starts.
  5. Activate a licence code when you are ready. To move to another machine, deactivate the current one first.
